Sheila Mangan's fabulous Gerard's Bargello at our May meeting.

The Western Branch were delighted to facilitate the showing of two national IPS Exhibitions in Galway during August Craft Month and Heritage Week. The venue was the offices of the Galway Civic Trust at the Hall of the Red Earl. We had plenty of help from staff and volunteers at the Galway Civic Trust.

Hundreds of visitors dropped in over the two week the quilts were on show. They were amazed at the work of the makers in the "Language Landscape Migration" and "Recycled" Exhibitions. More than one person said how surprised they were that quilts could be art when they were expecting "granny quilts". We did let them know that there were several Grannies among the makers!

We had two days of demonstrations and allowing members of the public to have a go making a quilt as you go hexagon coaster. Great fun altogether
